Stamina, pace, aggression and simple common sense are all words that amply describe the bowling of Malcolm Marshall, who would become the fastest bowler of his time. Many may not know of Marshall's competence with the bat as well. Though he often batted very low down the order for the West Indies and therefore was unable to show his true prowess with the willow, he would make a very valuable contribution with the bat for his county team Hampshire. He scored 11,004 runs in the 408 first-class matches he played, took 1,651 wickets. Marshall was the fastest bowler to reach 200 wickets in Test cricket. He established himself as the premier bowler for the West Indies team, humbling many top batsmen around the world.
