Norman Marshall was a Barbadian cricketer who played for the West Indies cricket team from 1952 to 1960. He was born on March 8, 1928, in Barbados and made his debut for the West Indies at the age of 24.

Marshall was a left-handed opening batsman who was known for his solid technique and ability to occupy the crease. He was a key member of the West Indies team that toured England in 1957, scoring 232 runs at an average of 29.00 in the Test series.

Marshall’s best performance in Test cricket came in 1955, when he scored 118 not out against New Zealand in Kingston, Jamaica. He finished his Test career with 1,810 runs at an average of 33.70, with three centuries and eight half-centuries to his name.

In addition to his batting, Marshall was also a brilliant fielder, known for his agility and safe hands. He took 23 catches in Test cricket, many of them in the slips.

After retiring from cricket, Marshall worked as a coach and administrator, serving as the manager of the West Indies cricket team in the early 1970s. He was inducted into the Barbados Cricket Association Hall of Fame in 2006.

Norman Marshall was a talented cricketer and a true gentleman of the game. His contributions to West Indian cricket will always be remembered, and he will continue to inspire future generations of cricketers in Barbados and beyond.
